Removing the Burden

A story from the Philippines describes the driver of a carabao wagon on his way to market. In the middle of his journey, the driver nearly passed an old man who was carrying a heavy load. With compassion, the driver invited the old man to ride with him in the wagon. Gratefully, the old man accepted. After a few minutes, the driver turned to see how the man was doing. To his surprise, he found him still straining under the heavy weight, because he had not taken the burden off his shoulders.
Today, I want to invite you to not only ride this experience of worship and devotion, but to let Jesus remove the burdens that are weighing you down. What a shame it would be to experience the beauty of His presence, to feel the satisfaction of extending worship to Him, yet leave his presence unchanged.
Hebrews 4:1-2 tells us that it is the preaching of the word of God, mixed with our faith, that brings about a change in us. I pray that as our service progresses today, you will allow your faith to move you to respond to Him.
As we continue our sermon series on the theme, “Manifest Destiny”, we desire that you will be impacted with the challenge to claim the promises that God has already made available for you.
