One of the cornerstones of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19closeMatthew 28:19 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. . . . (ESV) ) is to “preach the gospel to every creature, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost.” However, the continuation of this statement (Matthew 28:20closeMatthew 28:20 20 “Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (ESV) ) is just as important… it says, “teaching them to do whatsoever I have commanded you.” Jesus was clear that just being converted was not enough, but we must also be “discipled”. We must continually learn more about what it means to live for Christ.
