Go Fish Devotional - Week 11

The 4 “Don’t Waits” of Disciple Making

Day 3: Don’t wait until you to go to the next level.

  1. We should never stop growing in God, as a result, disciple making is one of the first steps we should have taken in our walk with God.
  2. We should always want to do more for God.
  3. We should always want to do be better for God.

Final Thoughts

Sometimes we like where we are at, but we want to have that next breakthrough before we put ourselves out there. We want to achieve that Christian goal of completing a Daniel Fast, or reading through the Bible, or memorizing a lot of scripture, or praying every day before we go and begin to share the testimony of our encouraging letter. Well if you are waiting to go to the next level, or waiting for that breakthrough, let disciple making be the next level and the next breakthrough. Don’t keep pushing it off.

Biblical Devotion

2 Peter 3:13-18  But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.  (14) Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.  (15) And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,  (16) as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.  (17) You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. (18) But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

1 Peter 2:1-10  So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.  (2) Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— (3)  if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. (4) As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious,  (5) you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  (6) For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” (7) So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”  (8) and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. (9) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.  (10) Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Colossians 1:9-14  And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,  (10) so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. (11) May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy,  (12) giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. (13) He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, (14) in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
